Glass Pendants
Bubble Trap
This bubble trap pendant has a very beautiful color that, in rod form, is called "persimmon strike". "Strike", in glass terms means the glass itself will change colors while you work it.
If I put this pendant back into the kiln (very hot oven), it would change colors. The black would remain black, but the spiky wisps behind the bubbles would change.
For years, working striking colors was frustrating.. reproducing certain colors seemed impossible.
Even now, after 8 years of full time glass blowing, striking colors push my knowledge and skills to their limits. A difference of seconds (like 7) can mean dramatically different colors.. and.. many of those are not what I'd call pretty. It's nice to have something to keep me on my toes.. but.. I wouldn't mind easy now and then!
